BECOMING A PERSON OF VALUE AND HIGH NETWORTH

“Your daddy’s laptop is valuable, please mind it, so it doesn’t fall off the table,” my wife called out to Jezreel, my 3 year old daughter, as she stretched forward in an attempt to type on the computer system.

Typing her name and a few other words are a favorite pastime for Jezreel, whenever she sees me using my laptop. When she was 1 year old, we taught her how to type her name on MS Word as a way to make her search for the alphabets on the computer keyboard, when teaching her to know the distinction of each alphabet.

Now it is an exciting pastime for her. Whenever she sees the laptop open, she wants to take out time to type words. And she often goes on to type her full name, her brother’s, mom’s and dad’s names, and other words, as she is allowed to do. Truth be told, I love to hear her say, “Daddy, I want to spell Jezreel”, in her soft childish voice, as she seeks permission to be allowed to do her thing.

Today’s lesson for her however, was not about typing, but to teach her to take care of the laptop and see it for its value.

Everyone has things they value. Things you hold dear to heart. Treasures, relics, useful tools, people and so on. I often used to wonder what it would feel like to be who other people value.
